What are 2x2 books?
The 2x2 committee develops a list of 20 recommended books for children from age two to grade two. A way to help with the state-wide promotion of this reading list, is by introducing them at several places like daycare centers, Head Start, public libraries, school libraries, primary care facilities, early childhood centers, hospitals, Women, Infant and Children (WIC) sites, and at health department clinics.
What are Bluebonnet books?
The TBA (Texas Bluebonnet Award) committee selects twenty books each year. This committee is made up of Texas librarians. Each librarian reads several books in an effort to find twenty of the best books for Texas students in grades 3rd through 5th. Each Novembe,r a new list of twenty books is released at the Texas Book Festival.
Any student in Texas who has read at least five of the nominated books by January is eligible to vote for their favorite Bluebonnet book. The book with the most vote wins the Texas Bluebonnet Award for the state of Texas.
