I'm Annette Villarreal, the librarian at Aikman Elementary.  I was born in Elgin, Illinois, but I got to Texas as soon as I could. My whole educational career was here in Hereford. So you could say I am a product of Hereford ISD! I started at Hereford ISD as a paraprofessional at Bluebonnet Elementary. While working there, I was pursuing a degree in education at West Texas A & M University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Education in 2007. Shortly thereafter, I was hired to teach second grade at Aikman Elementary.  I taught second grade for 3 years and third grade for 6 years. I decided to return to graduate school in 2014 and earned my master's in Library Science from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, in the fall of 2016. Go, Mean Green!! I became the librarian here at Aikman Elementary that same year. This will be my fifth year as a librarian at Aikman. I wholeheartedly love my profession! I love books, and I hope to instill that same love in all of the students here at Aikman Elementary. I am looking forward to a great school year!
